McNabb Properties

Barry Clayton

Member of the Month

Barry Clayton is new to McNabb Properties in downtown Murphy, so you may know him more as a volunteer firefighter in Cherokee County. As a graduate of Hiwassee Dam High School, he and his wife, Kayla Clayton, have grown up in the Murphy area and love the people of our community.

Barry had previously worked in different manufacturing facilities, but decided to go to school and pursue a career in real estate. With his love of his family and neighbors, he wanted the opportunity to be out in Cherokee County, meeting new people and helping those in his community.

You will often find Barry representing McNabb Properties at our Chamber events or enjoying our downtown businesses when he is not showing property to clients. If you’re visiting Cherokee County, Barry recommends the Murphy River Walk before dinner at one of our local eateries. Stop by and visit Barry in the McNabb Properties office at 75 Tennessee Street in Downtown Murphy, between Valley River Brewery & Red Brick Deli. You can also give him a call or reach out to him on social media.

NBT Tara Laney

Nantahala Bank

Tara Laney

Ambassador of the Month

Tara Laney has experience as a loan processor, loan reviewer, teller, branch manager, and now as a Commercial Loan Specialist at Nantahala Bank. Tara graduated from Hiwassee Dam High School, earned her Associates at Tri-County Community College, then commuted to earn her degree in Business Management at Western Carolina university while processing loans for Nantahala Bank.

Tara took a little over a year to work at a larger bank and gain that experience, but she quickly realized that she missed the people of Cherokee County. Nantahala Bank is a smaller community bank with impeccable customer service and a familiarity you can’t experience at a larger bank. If you ask her what drives her each day, it is the daily visits with customers and her ability to help each individual that visits the branch in Murphy.

Tara’s goal for the next five years is to provide more commercial loans and spend more time volunteering in the community. She is grateful that Nantahala Bank values our community and allows her to get out and help her customers. She had a great time working with everyone to bring the first “Murphy Spring Festival” and “A Very Murphy Christmas” to downtown and looks forward to more community events. Stop by and visit Tara Laney at Nantahala Bank at 86 Hiwassee Street in Downtown Murphy or give her a call, she’ll be happy to help you!
